Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide technical support for assessments and watershed protection program activities.  The five-year IDIQ has a maximum value of $107.6 million. Baker is one of five contractors which will compete for individual task order awards under the contract.

Task orders under the contract will support various programs administered by EPA’s Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds’ Assessment and Watershed Protection Division.  Work assignments will take place throughout the U.S. and in collaboration with EPA Regional Offices, states, local governments, tribes and other stakeholders. Services delivered to EPA will include, among others, water monitoring, protection, restoration and overall improvement of the nation's watersheds and water bodies; identification and protection of healthy watersheds; the development of tools for ecosystem restoration and point and nonpoint source pollution controls; and the determination of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) and development of associated implementation plans.

“Our selection on this strategically important contract demonstrates the strength of the Baker team’s technical skills, watershed-related experience and management approach,” said Baker’s John Kurgan, P.E., executive vice president and chief operating officer.  “This contract will allow Baker to substantially increase our Clean Water Act-related work.  We look forward to the opportunity to support EPA and work on interesting, technically challenging projects.”
